#PCAFConsultation | In the third quarter meeting of the National Sectoral Committee on Poultry and Livestock on September 22, 2023, the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) provided updates on the status of the African Swine Fever (ASF) and Avian Influenza (AI) vaccines.BAI Veterinary Epidemiology Section Head Dr. Joanna Marie David reported that the final draft of the AI vaccination guidelines is already with the Department of Agriculture (DA) Legal Team for clearance. Once cleared, this will be submitted for the signature of DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban.“For the AI vaccine adaptation, may tatlong kompanya na po ang na-endorse ng BAI sa FDA for the importation of vaccine but as of now wala pa po atang nare-release na SPS [Sanitary and Phytosanitary Import Clearance],” Dr. David furthered.On the other hand, Dr. Joshua Cruz of the BAI-National ASF Prevention and Control Program shared that the completion of trial testing for the ASF vaccine is due on the last week of September or early October.The Committee passed a resolution recommending the Food and Drug Administration and the BAI to provide reports on the importation of 300,000 doses of ASF vaccine and its dissemination.For more stories, visit www.pcaf.da.gov.ph.Text and screenshot by Joy Camille Luza ...
