#PCAFConsultation | Despite the rise and fall in market trends, coconut oil remained to be the Philippines’ fifth top exported commodity, hitting USD3 billion in export value in 2022.This was reported by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) during the National Banner Program Committee on Coconut’s first quarter meeting on March 28, 2023.PCA also briefed the Committee of its 2023 Programs and Projects, which included the Planting and Replanting of Local Cultivars, Coconut Fertilization Project, and the Coconut Intercropping Project.Moreover, PCA Administrator Roel Rosales informed the Body that they are also concentrating their efforts towards the Salt Fertilization Program to help coconut farmers lower their input costs.“Pinag-uusapan at tinututukan na po namin itong Salt Fertilization Program ng PCA, kung saan ang gagamiting asin bilang pataba sa coconut trees ay bibilhin namin sa mga local communities para na rin makatulong sa ating industriya,” he added.During the meeting, the Committee also agreed that proposing a project that will promote the processing of non-utilized coconut parts can be beneficial to the farmers.
